TV total Bundestagswahl

Sunday, September 18th, 2005
Stefan Raab is undoubtfully one of the greatest talents in discovering trends. After the legendary TV total sport events like boxing, Wok WM, Stockcar Racing and manymore, he held his own early elections yesterday night in the TV total Bundestagswahl show. Though it was far from being representative it was still interesting.

Why not representative? 1. Everyone could vote (also foreigners and minors), 2. Everyone could call as often as they wanted and 3. the avarage TV total viewers are younger people. But exactly for that reason it was interesting because the results more or less reflect the votes of the youger generation.

One last thing (if you are German):

Go Vote today!!!

It is important for our country’s future!

DVD Tip: The Ring Two

Product Image: The Ring Two
My rating: 4 out of 5

The Ring two is the sequal of a remake or a remake of a sequal. Confused? Here it goes: 1998 the Japanese horror movie Ringu came out. The story was that there was a mysterious video that killed everyone who watched it within 7 days. As with all successfull foreign movies, the Americans didn’t dub it or show it with subtitles, but they remade it. The result was the movie The Ring which was really scary and intense. Often the remakes are said to be not as good as the original, but in this case I found it was the other way around (I saw both versions). Then the sequal of Ringu, Ringu 2 was made. Actually it came out even before The Ring in the American version. Anyway, this year The Ring two came out which is again a remake of Ringu 2. So I guess now you understand the above ;-) Actually while browsing on IMDB I found even another remake Ringu, apparently a Korean movie.

It has been a long time since I watched Ringu 2 but as far as I remember The Ring two pretty different from the original, but as it has been a long time I might be wrong. Overall I found it not as good as the first part but still good enough to scare the heck out of me. Hideo Nakata (the director) really achieved to combine shock effects (that is when you jump out of your seat) and a bone chilling ground tension. Normally horrormovies either create an ongoin suspense or fire an arsenal of shock effects your way, but this movie is great in both. The music and the cutting techniques do the rest.

I gave it a 4 because it was really good, but not as good as the first part. However if you like one, you will also like the other.

By the way, more movies then you probably think are remakes of foreign originals. Here is a list.

Stromberg is back!

Thursday, September 8th, 2005

YES!!! Finally the new season of "Stromberg" starts this Sunday at 22:10 on Pro 7 on German television. In case you missed the first season, Stromberg is about the funniest thing ever on German TV. In case you don’t live in Germany (or Austria or Swizerland), tough luck ;-)

The 4th season of 24 is out on DVD

Thursday, August 18th, 2005

As in Germany the 3rd season just came out on DVD (more then 1 year after the realase in US and UK as always in Germany :-() the english version of the 4th season is finally out on DVD as import version from UK. You can get it on Amazon or eBay.
For all of you, who are not yet infected with the 24 virus, it is a TV series in which events occur in real time. So each episode runs 1 hour on the screen and in reality. That is actually what is the kick about this show. Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland), a federal agent from the (imagenary) Counter Terrorist Unit (CTU) has to deal with terrorist threats, drug dealers and the bad guys even come after him and his family. If you havn’t seen any of it yet, I advise to start with the 1st season, everything makes more sense then.
I’ll definatly order it today, can’t wait any longer :-)

A funny and entertaining commedy, at least as good as the first part.

Peking Express

Saturday, July 30th, 2005

RTL plant leider keine 2.
